First Niagara, Harleysville, East Penn, Willow Grove Banks: Enough With The Mergers!

First, it was Willow Grove Bank. A very good bank. Small and friendly. Then, they and East Penn became Harleysville Bank. Now, not long after that merger, Harleysville Bank will become First Niagara.  So now, I've got to deal with a bank that's larger still, new routing numbers, eventually, new checks (again!), and a "home office" that's about as local to me as Uzbekistan. I'm on the brink of moving to a bank that actually keeps it's name for more than 6 months at a time, and would encourage others to consider the same.  This is absurd.

Those are the spoils of war. Harleysville was going under, the Feds knocked on First Niagara's door like a shotgun wedding looking for a suitor, only the bride wasn't too bad on the eyes. Sounds like you're used to banks merging and routing numbers changing. I guarantee this will happen many more times in your life, even if you pull your money in disgust from one place and put it in the next.
